Questions.

What UmanID does, what it does not do, and what it takes to use it.

What is UmanID?

A way to confirm, in real time, who is actually contacting you — on a phone call, a message, a video call, a chat, or at your door — before it goes any further.

It replaces assumptions with visible proof.

How is it different from caller ID?

Caller ID only ever shows you a number, and a number can be faked. UmanID shows you who is actually contacting you, and lets you check it for yourself.

When should I use it?

Before you:

  • share personal or financial information
  • approve a transaction
  • continue a call or message that feels wrong
  • open the door to an unexpected delivery
  • respond to someone claiming to represent a company

If identity matters, verify first.

What do I see when I verify?

The organisation’s name and logo, the department, the name of the person contacting you when one has been given, and a clear result.

It takes seconds.

What if UmanID cannot recognise who is contacting me?

The app says so plainly. It means one of two things: that organisation has not joined UmanID yet, or the contact is not genuine.

You cannot tell which from the app alone. But you have learned something either way, and neither answer is a reason to keep talking. Hang up and call the number you already have for them.

Does UmanID record my calls or messages?

No. UmanID does not record conversations and does not store the content of messages. It confirms identity during the interaction, and nothing else.

Can I verify more than once?

Yes — any time, and as often as you want.

What does UmanID do for an organisation?

It lets your customers confirm that a call, message, video call, chat or delivery genuinely comes from you. It also works the other way round, verifying suppliers, vendors and partners before a sensitive action goes ahead.

What does adopting it involve?

A conversation with us, setup we do with you, and a start on one contact flow rather than a rollout. Your people work in the UmanID business portal; your customers install the app once, which then covers every organisation on the network rather than only you. Nothing in your existing systems has to change.

The business product is in early access, so there is no self-service signup yet.

How do I get UmanID?

Install the app once. It is one app for every organisation on the network, not one app per company — so a single install covers your bank, your insurer, a courier, anyone else who has joined.

Most people hear about it because an organisation they deal with invites them. That invitation is how you find it, not what it belongs to. It costs you nothing.

Do organisations use the mobile app?

No. Individuals use the UmanID mobile app. Organisations work in the UmanID business portal.

What happens if a verification fails?

The result is shown plainly to both sides, and nothing should go ahead until you are satisfied about who you are dealing with. What happens next is your call.
